South Sudan eSIM frequently asked questions
Will the RoamingFlex eSIM work as soon as I land in South Sudan?
Yes, as long as you install the eSIM before you fly. It connects to the strongest local cellular signal the moment your phone leaves airplane mode at the gate, usually within 60 seconds. No carrier-shop visit, no SIM swap.
How much data do I need for a typical trip to South Sudan?
3GB is the safe pick for a one-week trip with normal app usage (Maps, messaging, photo uploads, occasional streaming). For a two-week or more involved trip, 5GB to 10GB is wiser. Heavy streamers or remote workers should pick Unlimited.
Will my phone work with the South Sudan eSIM?
Any eSIM-compatible phone works. That includes iPhone XS and newer, the Galaxy S20 series and newer, Pixel 4 and newer, and most modern flagship Android devices. Check the full compatibility list in our FAQ.
What's the difference between RoamingFlex and a local SIM in South Sudan?
Speed and friction. A local SIM means finding a kiosk, waiting in line, handing over your passport for registration, and possibly returning later if the shop is closed. RoamingFlex delivers a QR code to your screen and email in under 90 seconds, and it activates the moment you land.
Does the plan include voice calls to South Sudan numbers?
No, data only. For calls to South Sudan businesses, restaurants, or contacts, use WhatsApp, FaceTime, or your home carrier's Wi-Fi calling over the eSIM data connection. WhatsApp is the dominant messaging tool for travel logistics in most countries.
Can I tether my laptop to the South Sudan eSIM?
Yes. Every RoamingFlex plan includes hotspot and tethering at no extra cost. Useful for laptop work from a café, video calls from a hotel room, or sharing your connection with a travel companion.
What happens if I overstay my plan validity in South Sudan?
Data stops when the validity window expires. You can top up by buying a new plan in the RoamingFlex dashboard. Same eSIM profile, new validity period. No need to scan a fresh QR code.
