How a France eSIM compares
Carrier roaming
~€9/day
≈ €126 for 2 weeks
Typical international roaming charge from major EU/UK/US carriers in France. Caps often activate after €60/month and throttle to dial-up speeds.
Local SIM at airport
€15 to €40
one-time plus setup hassle
Orange and SFR tourist SIMs cost €15 to €25 a week at any tabac. Activation needs your passport and the clerk typing your details into a national registry, which can take 20 minutes if the system is slow.
RoamingFlex eSIM
€7.99
3GB / 15 days
Same plan covers 2 weeks of travel in France. QR code in under 90 seconds. No app, no airport queue, no passport scan.
How much data you actually need in France
Tourists in France average 370MB/day. France tourist usage averages 340 to 410 MB per day. Citymapper for the Paris Métro, SNCF Connect for trains, and Google Lens for the surprising number of French menus that come with no English translation. Hotels and Airbnbs have reliable WiFi; cafes are hit or miss. Source: RoamingFlex 22-destination data usage dataset (CC BY 4.0).
Insider tip
The SNCF Connect app is the cheapest way to book TGV and Intercités tickets. Buying at the station counter costs 30 to 50 percent more for the same train. The app also stores tickets offline, which is useful since Paris stations have spotty WiFi.

France eSIM frequently asked questions
Does the eSIM work on the Paris Métro?
Yes, in most stations. The actual tunnels mostly don't have signal, which is a RATP infrastructure thing affecting every carrier. The newer Line 14 has full coverage. Most other lines pick up signal only when the train pulls into a station.
Will it cover the TGV high-speed trains?
Yes. Coverage along the Paris to Lyon, Paris to Marseille, and Paris to Bordeaux corridors is solid. Streaming and video calls work most of the way. Tunnel sections drop briefly.
How much data do I need for a week in Paris?
3GB is plenty for a Paris-only trip. Bump to 5GB if you're adding the Loire Valley or Provence.
Can I use the France plan in Monaco?
No. Monaco has its own network (Monaco Telecom) and the French plan won't roam onto it. Stick to a Europe-regional plan if Monaco is part of the itinerary.
Does it work in Corsica?
Yes. Corsica is administratively part of France and the eSIM covers it. 4G LTE is reliable across the populated coast and main towns. Inland Corsica (the mountain villages) has weaker signal regardless of carrier.
Will it cover the Alps and ski resorts?
Coverage is good in the major resort towns (Chamonix, Val d'Isère, Tignes) and reliable on the access roads. Higher up on the slopes, signal drops in the bowls and back-country valleys.
